Hardly 54 overs were possible on the second day’s play at Mirpur in the Second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand. The match has moved forward though with New Zealand at 107 for 3 having bowled out the homeside for 282.

Shakib Al Hasan brought the Bangladeshis back in the contest taking all the three Kiwi wickets to fall. The visitors were 32 for 2 and were in further trouble when Kane Williamson retired hurt on 27* after being hit on the face by a Rubel Hossain bouncer. Shakib delivered his third blow when he had New Zealand Skipper Brendon McCullum (11) pulling a long hop to deep mid wicket. Before rain had the last laugh, New Zealand had Ross Taylor on 37* rejoined by Kane Williamson.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh lost its remaining five wickets with the addition of just 54 runs. Left-arm pacer Neil Wagner wrapped up the Bangladeshi innings with his 5 for 64 while leggie Ish Sodhi finished with 3 for 59.
